Rakhine Traditional Clothing

Thick handwoven Rakhine longyi with interlocking wave and diamond patterns (popular nationwide). Women wear htamein with horizontal stripes or geometric designs and a shawl wrapped diagonally across the body; multiple traditional hairstyles distinguish age/marital status. Men wear taikpon jacket and gaung baung for ceremony. Signature material: fine cotton and silk woven in Sittwe and Mrauk-U traditions.
