Description
Continuous spiral of heavy brass rod wound around the neck, added to over years so that the collarbones are depressed and the neck appears elongated. — Practised by Kayan Lahwi women specifically, not by all Kayan or all Karenni. ETHICALLY SENSITIVE because of exploitative long-neck-village tourism - a marketplace should handle replicas and imagery carefully and should not list worn coils as souvenirs. Made by a specialist smith, not woven. — Woven by handwoven. Sold via Loikaw Karenni Traditional.
